DRL On/Off Switch and Importing
Hi, I'm importing a B7 A4 from the US and it has the ability to turn On/Off the DRL functionality. Does the Candian Tire inspection force you to disable this feature? If anyone that has gone through this process could comment that would be awesome.
Thanks! |
Re: DRL On/Off Switch and Importing
I also got a B7 A4 begining of april. The guy that inspected my car only asked me if the DRL where on, I said yes, he looked at them when I brought the car in and that was it.
Dont know if it is like this everywhere but it took me tops 10 minutes à Canadian Tire. Good luck with your import. |
Re: DRL On/Off Switch and Importing
I picked my 2007 A4 up a few weeks ago (came up from PA) and it didnt have the disabling switch next to the headlight switch... but the dealer reprogrammed the car for the DRL's to work. I thought all the US models had that little switch to enable/disable the DRL's...
Are you switching your Speedo over to Kms or leaving it in Miles? I found a couple of sites that sell new dial backings, but mostly in different colors... I'd like to get a stock black one in km/h. Programming the display from Miles to Kms according to the dealer is a piece of cake... |
Re: DRL On/Off Switch and Importing
My US car has the switch; however, when VAGed to have the DRL's on at all times, the sswitch was disabled. My understanding is that this is a CDN requirement although SNOWMAN seems to have proven differently. I can't think of a good reason to drive with the DRL's off ??

Re: DRL On/Off Switch and Importing
BTW, my speedo is in miles but has very small numbers for kms. The first time I drove the car I was cruising along doing 80 before I realized that it was MPH .. the needle was only pointing straight up (12 oclock position). Needless to say, I've had to keep my eye on the speedo with this car as it wants to motor and does so effortlessly.

Re: DRL On/Off Switch and Importing
Sorry, I didn't do it so I can't tell you - prior to taking delivery I had Independant Tuning do a few things incl. this. I assume the Ross Tech site has the info you are looking for.

Re: DRL On/Off Switch and Importing
Well, I believe I got lucky. I took it to Canadian Tire this morning and there was no mention of the switch. So either they didn't see it, or saw it and didn't care.
In either case, I now have a fully licensed imported 2008 Audi A4 Avant SE 2.0T 6MT! |

I love the Avant, actualy I prefer it from the sedan but I could not get one in the 3.2 unless getting it very far and white ( sorry for the white lovers but I dont like white). Maybe I did not speek to the good poeple but, it was even hard to get a 3.2 sedan. |
