anyone know how to program homelink?

hey guys whats up!

I currently have a 2006 audi a4, with the homelink option, I was wondering if anyone had any tricks on programming your car, as I seem to have no success with this!

I have a Sears craftsman brand, if that helps?

PS. I apologize if this has already been addressed but I tried searching and nothing turned up!

thanks

I just followed the instructions in the manual; it worked perfectly on my '02... Did the little LED light up the same way as described in the manual?

Follow the manual. You'll have to use the remote and point them at the driver's (I think) side headlight.

The only trouble is that most of the new brands change their own code each time you use them (to prevent code theft during use), this function must be turned off on the unit, otherwise your homelink will never work. Talk to your Audi sales or service advisor ... they can walk you through it.

I have this same question, i have a 2000 A4 and need to know how to program homelink. I do not have the manual for the car, if someone could just tell me how to go about doing this, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Re: anyone know how to program homelink?

I just went to their website and downloaded the instructions:
HomeLink; Home automation,Wireless control system, universal transceiver, RF control, Home security, smart home, vehicle to home, home automation, remote control lighting and home control

Then I found out where they hide the manuals in these cars lol

Re: anyone know how to program homelink?

I just programmed my Homelink so the memory is still fresh...
1. Hold the 1 & 3 buttons for 10-20 sec until the LED blinks fast
2. Press the button you want to program once, the LED will blink slowly and you have a few minutes to program it
3. Point your garage remote at the front grill / head light within 5" and press the button, cycle it if needed. After successful programming, the turning signals should flash a couple times.
4. For the garage opener with rolling codes, you need to put the garage opener in learning mode (press the button on the opener itself)
5. When the garage opener is in learning mode, press the Homelink button that you just programmed.
6. Press the Homelink button one more time and you should be done!
7. Test the Homelink button for operation.

The Audi Homelink can certainly work with rolling code openers, at least my 2006 does.

OP, do you have a copy of your 2006 car's owner's manual? If not I can scan the relevant pages for you. I followed the instructions and got my homelink set up ok. Used the Audi instructions and not the ones in the opener's manual.
