knock on wood* my car still has its original parts on from when it was a baby. WOOOOO Wiper motor still going strong, turbo still sucks air, timing belt still has not been changed yet, no oil burning because i change oil 5-8k no shame!!

You treat it like you wanted to be treated back!! WOOOO

What I researched in the old days that if im using the wipers, I never put it to the max, cuz it over works the motor and stresses the parts in the transmission so much it gets strained and will break over time. So I either put it to the lowest setting or medium speed at most. Thats how u keep it running in the long run.

Then you haven't seen the rain !!! (quote of a popular CCR song)

Went to NFLD last summer with the S4. 5000 km in 2 weeks in torrential rain all the way. A 5000km car wash. If I had kept the wiper to "medium" i would of driven about a hour a day.

The good news : the underside of the car had no more salt from the previous winter left.

Wanthema,

You've been lucky. 100K seems to be the killer spot. I had no problems until 100K, but between 100K and 110K (which I'm at now) I:

Did my timing belt $1,400
Wiper Motor/Transmission: $400
Coil Packs: Recall (thank goodness)
Fuel Pump: $750
O2 Sensor $450

Just got the car back from the dealer last night, it is covered by the CPO....

Only cost to me : 100$ (the CPO franchise)

Since I had a few things all on the same "request", 100$ is cheap.

Oh don't get me wrong, i baby my B6, you name its down right there on the spot no question asked. Replaced the timebelt at 80 Km, with waterpump, as well as coilpacks, just before warranty on the car went.
Car only has 94 Km

I had my wipers stop. Small garage that services it for me said they see that a lot. Problem is a build up of debris in the clamp by the motor. They said they took it a part, shook it out, put it back together, and back to 100%! $65 for my repair.

When I turned off the ignition of my A4 ( 1.8L Turbo ) the engine has a declining swooping sound every time!
Is it the turbo engine making this sound? I don't mind the sound - sweet sound actually : ) But can some one tell me - is it normal?

Loo

Probably the fan/engine shutting down.
