Default Window Regulator

Has anyone else had to replace a window regulator?

I seem to be having the worst luck! My regulator was busted, got a new one, installed it. Now two days later, my regulator is busted again! This time it came off the pulleys and completely got off track. Annoying nonetheless!

If I never have to take a door panel apart again, I'd be the happiest girl in the world!

I know that feeling!
Mine was drivers side front.
Cost me $75 for the replacement and 2 hours install.
Yours probably came of the track and pulleys because if you dont get the track alignment square before you insert the top section back into the door, thats what causes it to come off the track.
I know you have done one already, but let me know if you need any input, as there are plenty of "how to's" available.

mine is drivers front as well!
My dad helped me with that part, just because with my luck I'd clutz out and drop the window, which is another problem I just don't need! lol

I'm open to reading more "how to's" of course!

Thumbs up Re: Window Regulator

I got my replacement from autopartsway.ca and a good "how to" is http://happywrenching.com/audi/a4/20...placement.html, and the same thing on Youtube:
.
This shows you the passenger side, but the only difference is unplugging the drivers multi-swiitch console.
Autopartsway was the cheapest price, and the Audi dealer wanted $495 installed!
Good luck!

haha that is EXACTLY what I did! Waiting to get an exchange on the part from them now. Currently have two wooden rods holding my window up...my car is so depressing right now. No regulator = no motor = no power. My car doesn't lock! I have to get OUT of my car in the morning to get my coffee (OH YES! THE HORROR!)

Don't tell me that you may end up giving up coffee for a while during these cold mornings! Ha! Ha!
Don't forget to save the wooden rods as part of your future emergency kit, LOL!
You've tweeked my curiosity!
I am wondering why you are waiting to get an exchange from them?
I'll tell you why I ask. On their website, they had a description problem on the window regulator page.
They showed a picture of a rear drivers side regulator, but the description text said "front passenger side".
I noticed this and went on their chat line to query it.
Wish I hadn't!
Poor Pedro (bless him), the guy who manned the chat line, could not speak good english and all he could do was keep re-reading the description. Couldn't seem to grasp that it could be the wrong picture write up!
Hopefully you didn't get the wrong regulator because of their screwed up description?

same problem here. autopartsway is out of stock for my car. what's the next cheapest place in canada? for fun i had the dealer quote...it was $800+ as they said they should probably replace the window channel too to rule that out. the best part was they took the door completely apart to diagnose, then said if they replaced the part it would be 2.5 hours of labour--it would have been at most 0.5 hours from that point. tales from the stealership.

Man i herd so many people of there regulator failing couple days after. My first one just failed on driver side and i need to replace it. I still need to order it :S. O well, this car treats me great and i dont mind it. I was wondering if i should get a repair kit or just the regulator.

I purchased mine last week from euroasiaparts on ebay and they shipped it to be within 3 business days (I live in Alberta). Just installed it this past Saturday. Paid $96 shipped to my door. Brand new, unused.

The brand is URO, I have spent some time looking for something that will last and URO seems to be the closest OEM quality regulators made from what I have read from other user reviews.

Hope this helps. PS: I used the same YouTube video to help me. Took me an hour tops. This is the first Audi I've taken apart.
