VW TL 774D vs. G12 coolant
Okay, I know I'll get a bunch of replies saying "only use G12 in your Audi" but I've been searching for an alternative and at Car Quest they recommended this coolant they have that has a
VW TL 774D rating on it and they say it is safe for my 2002 Audi A4 Turbo. I can't find anything on what exactly "VW TL 774D" stands for or what standard that makes.
Anyone know the answer?

Re: VW TL 774D vs. G12 coolant
G12 and VW TL774D are the same fluids. They are both a silicate-free spec equivalent to G30/33/34 (latter two being color differences) that is what's often called 'lifetime fluid'. This is said to be more compatible with aluminum components over time, thus 'lifetime.'(really 4-5 yrs vs 2-3).
Whatever happens, do NOT mix silicate and silicate-free coolants if you want your engine to remain happy and operational.
