On a slightly related note: anyone knows where to get the plastic decoration of the card holder/coin holder on an A4 B6 - the one between the ESP and warning blinker buttons?
My holder works fine, but I don't have the gray cover hiding it.

I had a Harvey's drink on m dashboard cupholder, but the employee didnt properly seal the lid so it spilled all over my radio/climate control (mostly on the climate control).

It made half the buttons on one side to stick. Ever since then, I put it under the armrest. If I order coffee from tims, I get a medium and always ask them to put it in a large cup.

For how **** German engineers are I am surprised that cup holder placement ever was approved. I like small 8 oz espressos so it does work really well. I even put my coffee mug it it. Since the liquid is so small, corners don't matter. I trust nothing else.

Will have to try the iphone placement.

Anyone else have some useful other ideas?

Well, I found a cup that has solved my problem I think.
SS Coffee Mug - Mountain Equipment Co-op. Free Shipping Available
Picked it up this afternoon and no problems so far. I like the iPhone idea but I think I'm going to go one better. I'm going to try to wire up an iPod cable into the back of the card holder for a more stealthy iPod solution. Thanks for the replies everyone and keep the ideas coming.

Not sure... I've heard that Germans/Europeans rarely eat or drink in their cars so they tend to be afterthoughts but I'm not going to say that's a fact. Just what I heard somewhere.

what i do, ask for an extra cup. take the extra cup, pour 1/4 your coffee (and i am using Tims as a reference, also used McDicks Coffee and 7-11) into the second cup. take your original cup (now 3/4 full) with the top still intact (a must for your tims cup) and sit it in cup holder #2, which is the one by the ebrake.

now feel free to enjoy your 1/4 cup of coffee, and continue to fill as needed. i have only had problems while driving "offensively" in snow having it spill this way
