Trunk on A4 doesn't open with remote or release lever in car
Hello. For some reason the only way I can open my trunk is by using the key. I can not open the trunk by using my remote or by using the trunk release lever inside the car. Nothing happens. In the very beginning of this problem I did hear a noise, like something turning where the trunk latch is, but now, I hear nothing, it's just silence. The trunk is not in valet mode either. Also the gas door doesn't lock anymore. Usually when you have the doors lock, the gas door is locked as well. Not it just stays unlocked. I don't know if whatever is wrong with my trunk works with the gas door as well. My top stopped working as well and I was told that it could be because the trunk isn't working..., as a safety feature since the top goes down inside the trunk. Can anyone help out?!
Thanks so much!

Re: Trunk on A4 doesn't open with remote or release lever in car
Hey, good news! I was able to solve my problem (along with some help from Justin at Justanswer.com). It was a blown fuse. I checked the obvious fuses but not this particular one. Hopefully this will help others that run into the same problem. If you have a 2005 Audi Cabrio and this happened to you, there is a good chance my solution will be your solution.
My convertible top would not work at all (it was in the up position when it "broke" thank goodness).
My trunk would not pop open with the remote, nor with the release leveler located in the car or the handle in back of the trunk. I had to use the key every time.
My gas door remained unlocked (thank goodness it didn't "break" in the locked position).
My interior lights did not come on when I pulled my key out of the ignition.
The solution? Replace fuse #24 which is for the "Central Convenience Electrical System". The amps is 20. My fuse was blown!
Now, EVERYTHING works..., I feel like I have a new car! I've been driving around with this problem for 4 or 5 months!
I hope I was able to help someone.

Silly question:
I'm not mechanically inclined, but my trunk latch is also broken.
Can you tell me how excatly I can go about changing "fuse #24"??
Thanks!

On the left hand side (driver side) when you open the door the side panel comes off with a small screw driver you can pry it open and the fuses are right there, figure out which one is for the trunk and check it/replace.

Re: Trunk on A4 doesn't open with remote or release lever in car
Hi. Yes, just like what 1move said. It's on VERY END of the left side of the dashboard (the driver's side). Not underneath the dash, but on the SIDE of where the top of the dash ends. You can use your key or a tiny flat head screwdriver to pop that plastic cover plate off. You'll see a little indentation to where you can do this. On the inside of the plastic plastic cover plate is a diagram and the number that you want to replace (or just check to see if it's blown) is #24. Just find #24 on the diagram and then match up the location that is on the diagram to where the fuse is actually inserted. #24 is called the "Central Convenience Electrical System". The amps is 20 (yellow). If you have problems trying to figure it out, I'm sure if you went to the dealer and just said please check out fuse #24 they would at no charge. A service adviser should be able to just walk out to your car to do that. Are you having multiple issues like I had? I hope this helps and good luck!
