Last time I bring to one of the shop in vancouver, they told me I have to replace the whole thing, they tell me dealer doesn't only sell the tiptronic switch. only the parts will need over $750 and + 350 labor.
How much the dealer trying to charge you to change it?

I am not really sure what to do neither, last time I bring my car to a local mechanic in vancouver, he told me it cost 750 for the parts and 350 for labor, so I didn't do it. Because he said I have to buy the whole shifter, Audi doesn't sell the tiptronic switch alone.

so have you find out the price from dealer?

Take look at this link - maybe yyour problem is as simple as the magnets have been displaced.

I did trying to follow the instruction from other post, but when I can't local the magnets. I take some pictures during the work, so you can take a look at it, also I think the black plastic under the circuit board is break, so how can I remove the circuit board.

I finally got my switch fixed today.
you can trying to disassemble the whole thing first and make sure the magnets in the correct positions.
here is the link I found that really help, it show you how to disassemble it.

if your indicator doesn't flash, mostly looks like the problem coming from the magnet.

good luck.

So was your problem the magnets or the circuit board itself?

it was the magnets problem, circuit board works fine. after I reassemble the whole thing and it works perfect. during the processing, I find a way to test if your circuit board works or not.
so, as you know, when you change your shifter from P to D, the indicator doesn't shows any gear. You can try to switch off when your gear stay in D, and turn it the ignition key "no" DO NOT star the engine. so if your circuit board still function, the D mode light should be selected. If it works in this way, I believe mostly looks like the circuit board works fine.

and you should check out the last link I post on top, that really shows you how to disassemble the whole things.
