Timing chain breaking

Timing chain breaking
Hi I have a 2006 A4 avant 2.0T with 110,000km with regular mtce, regular oil changes all preformed by Audi and lady driven just have the timing chain break.
I realize the timing belt needs regular mtce. However, the timing chain, just disintegrated which I'm guessing was a defective part and must be very rare.
I'm assuming obviously at this point we will need to replace the engine.
Anyone else know someone or had this problem?
Any other advice or recommendations on proceeding with this issue would be appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Timing chain breaking
Same problem with my 2007 Audi A6 and garage tells me that I'll have to replace engine.
Roughly same 110,000 as you
No prices yet and they are checking whether Audi will contribute towards cose.
