Default Timing Belt Job

I know this topic has been beaten up but just wanted to get some input from people who had timing belt jobs done recently.. it will help many members if you can post

- Where you got it done
- What was done (Water pump, Timing Belts, Serpentine belt, Tensioners, Idler Pulley Rollers, and Coolant)??
- Cost
- Were you satisfied with the service

Thanks a lot

Had mine done on warranty due to oil contamination when my cam seals blew out. I would definitely suggest changing out both belts and idler pulleys for sure. Peace of mind more than anything. Its a big job so much easier to do while you have it all apart and the pulley is cheap. The water pump is another one of those peace of mind items. Most shops suggest doing it, but I never do. If I have the car long enough I do it on every other timing belt job. Never had a problem yet and the water pump is a reasonably expensive part. Don't know what the Audi one costs, but being Audi I am sure it is quite pricy. Definitely suggest going with an independent if you know of someone reliable. Dealership will charge through the roof.

Order the kit from ECSTuning. It cost between 300-350 comes with EVERYTHING. Including a metal-impeller water pump (bad designs used plastic impellers that broke off and got lost in the coolant cycle.

After that it is doing the job yourself or getting it done. Apparently it costs about 900 to do at the dealer.

i have a 2003 1.8T. The dealer quoted me $1400+ tax. H2sport did it for around $800 with the metal water pump.

Usually AUDI dealer charge 850+tax for labour and $$$ for parts.

If u wanna change timming belt u should buy:
- timing belt ( dealer 80$)
- water pump (dealer 100$ +50$ deposit, they're return money back if u come back with old one)
- tensioner roller (dealer 140$)
- dumper (dealer 138$)
- serpentine belt (dealer 35$)
- serpentine tensioner (dealer 105$)
- idller roller (dealer42$)
- coolant (dealer 25$ red one)
- sometimes is good to change termostat, for 2003 AMB engine thermostat is expensive, dealer 170$)
- good to change crankshaf seal ( dealer 12$)

U can also order parts from ECStunning or BLUEparts for 250-280 $ USD + shiping + USD dollars exchange + sometimes 6% duty, total 400-500$.

If u living in GTA Area, I can change timing belt for u and I can also order chipper good german parts, for example Contitech.

i ordered my kit from ecstuning also. The kit comes with all belts, thermostat, water pump, and the new updated tensioner. Me and my friend installed it in his garage. Took a total of 10 hours.

I got mine done by getting the parts for $300 and then getting it done for about $250 labour cash from a retired mechanic out of his garage. Total price was about $600 cdn taxes in. That was for a 1.8T GTI about 1 year ago.

It was everything, new tensioner, belt, metal waterpump, roller etc
