Thinking about taking the plunge - A4 Avant
Hi there, I currently have a 2002 VW Passat that has been a PITA reliability-wise, it has just come off the VW used warranty and I'm looking to trade it in. I have found a 2003 Audi A4 Avant 3.0l with 74k on it and am thinking about buying it and before I do I'd be grateful for some advice;
Should I go for the warranty that the dealer is offering? Adds another $2,800 to the price which seems like a lot.
Is there anything specific I should be looking at before I take the plunge?
It's a dull question I know but still have to ask, how are they on gas, thirsty?
I really don't want a boring 2004 Corolla or some such car but also don't want a tempremental euro money pit.
Many thanks in advance for the help.

I myself wouldn't bother with the warranty from the dealer, unless the warranty includes a free timing belt change, then it's worth considering.
The 3.0 isn't terrific on gas, but it's not terrible either: I manage around 400-450km a tank on mostly city driving.

Re: Thinking about taking the plunge - A4 Avant
I just recently bought a 2004 Avant 3.0l as our second car (our main car is a A6 avant) and I love it, and ture it is not the greatest on gas it's a real pleasure to drive. having said that i have only had it for about 6 months and nothing has needed attention (knock on wood). we did have a honda accord which was super reliable and never failed us, but thought time to upgrade.
i know that a timing belt at my mechanic (not the dealer) is about $1100.

Im also planning to get either a 2004 or 2005 in blue.Not from a Audi dealer though from a private dealer.I was wondering is those aftermarket warranties any good?..I think there is only two large aftermarket companies that does warranties anyways and the features are almost the same.Is it worth it?.

What is the tank size on the A4 3.0? On your 400-450km fill, how many L of fuel do you end up using to fill?
