Test-drove an 2003 Audi A4 1.8t
I just recently test-drove a Audi 1.8t from 2003. It has 150,000km's and a 5-speed manual transmission.
What should I look out for on this model year car? Anything in particular? It is a private resale, so asking out-loud and looking for feedback.
Also, will this car fit a dual-din Pioneer D3 audio deck?

i reccomend you to go visit VISIONS , a good place, i got my s4 done there for the deck. Thing to watch out is if the timing belt's been done... great car overall though, what's the asking price?

Asking price is approximately $13,500.
I will likely ask for all of that, but got to sell my Saab first. It looks like a great car, only think that has to be re-done are the alloy rims, but the drive felt great. As I am in Ottawa, I don't think there is an audio-installer in down called "Visions"

whatever you do, dont go to futureshop or bestbuy because they will mess up your future car. one thing is though. the price is too high. with so many kilometers you could get it for less. for example a dealership will give you around 8 - 9 grand on the a4. i reccomend you to look into s4's. they are nice AND fast. I used to have an A4 but it just wouldnt go as fast as i would have wanted.

yes....dealership is wholesale, this is retail. I would never offer asking price as I would always ask for less because for starters, the wheels would have to be re-finished.
However, I am not looking for an S4. I want the lower spec 1.8t engine as I have
a BMW 328iS project car. I want something that is sporty yet, has AWD and decent fuel consumption. The S4 would not be any better then my current Saab 9-3ss AERO.

nah u should go to bestbuy, but do not use their products.. cuz they aren't as great as they advertise it. Just do a bit of research and buy all the parts you need to build it... and ask bestbuy to install it for you. all they going to charge is the installation and give u a full warranty of the whole installation so dont worry about it.
Problems at 150k
- check the history first.. write down the VIN number on that a4, check history for any accidents and stuff on some site where they give u unlimited info for any car if u pay like 30 bucks.
- also check for TB very important, i've seen too many 1.8 motors blown due to poor TB
- check for dents and the seams to see if any irregular bend so u know if they aren't lying if they say it has never been in an accident
- hows the clutch?

1.8t stock is = slow.. if u want something to race with.. either u got 5k budget to spend on top of what u bought and mod it.. or u find another car.. cuz our cars are not made for racing period.
stock = slow...
chip it = less slow.

Re: Test-drove an 2003 Audi A4 1.8t
im just going to touch on price....personaly i think that is a high asking price. I picked up a 2004 A4 with only 50k on it about a year and a half ago for only 16,000 and its 6 speed.
2003 A4 1.8t 5 speed with 150k should be around the 10k mark....
once again this is only my personal oppinion based on prices i have seen through out ontario.
