Default Suspension question

Hi, I own a 2004 Audi A4 sport which is very solid to sit in especially on bumpy roads!
I was told if I change the shocks this could solve my problem, I understood it was the suspension that's causing the problem not the shocks! if I change the shocks will this solve my problem? all answers appreciated.

Thanks, Eunan

i think it is your shocks, i mean I'm not a car expertise but i changed my shocks for the same purpose but maybe its better if you have a full check up on it , it may turn out to be nothing in the end really

The shocks/struts are part of what make up the suspension.
If the shocks/struts are dead, you'll feel a crappy ride. In other words, your springs will compress all the way (which will give you a harsh bump) and then bounce around after the bump (because the shocks/struts are no longer controlling the springs).

Does your car bounce in anyway after hitting some bumps? A proper suspension, when hitting a bump should be: car goes up from hitting the raised bump, down from the weight of the car and back up to normal ride height. If your car does the up down up down then the shocks are dead (even one extra bounce is bad). And if they are bad, when the car is on the downward cycle, nothing stops the spring from reaching 100% compression thus the hard bump.
