Suggestions regarding tires
Hello,
First of all i would like to say that this forum is a great place to resolve issues, thanks to everybody who keeps it up.
I have 2004 A4 1.8T Quattro.
My current tires are Pirelli 235/45 17 (94V). They are used up and i would like to switch them up for new ones. I went to OKTire today and they told me that they do not recommend going from V to lower (from high to normal performance tires). They gave me 3 best options:
Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS which is 94W $269/Tire
Continental Extreme Contact 93W $295/Tire
Toyo Proxes 4 97W $234/Tire
Check out their site for tire pics and info oktire dot com
What you guys think? Anybody can recommend another place? What about this 94V 94W 97W stuff? Does it play a big role?
Thank you

Re: Suggestions regarding tires
The prices seem a little high to me? I would also watch the Conti Extreme Contacts. I had a set on a Cadillac Catera Sport ($185/tire) and they were a very nice tire but got loud when the mileage went up.

I would stay away from the Toyos unless the car barely sees the road. They are amazing tires but you will melt through them in one summer with regular day to day driving. They are a very soft compound, very sticky but not too long of tread life.

"No season" tires ... please don't do it !
Get in touch with Allen Ahi (allen@simplytire.com or (416) 436-9000) as he's got great prices AND is a good guy to deal with. I was very happy with the Hankook K104's I got from him ...
Falken 452's are very good tires (a bit heavy though). Another hi-po reasonably priced tire I would consider is the Vredestein Sessantas (Vredestein Tire Sessanta Size 235/45-17 - Performance Plus Tire).
BTW, make sure to get the same or better tire rating ... look on your door sill for the info.
Good luck !
