Sorry, oil level sensor question again!

I have replaced my oil level sensor twice in the last 2 years.
I am once again getting the oil can light on periodically.
Has anyone noticed a correlation with the dipstick and oil filler cap in relation to these faulty sensors?
Here's my observations:
1) The light came on again recently
2) As always, I stopped and checked the dipstick level. As usual, it showed a level a tad above maximum
3) What I have noticed is that if at the same time I have removed the dipstick, I remove and replace the oil filler cap (with or without topping up the oil), and replace them both, upon restart, the warning light resets.
4) It does not come on again until I have driven a good stretch of highway (say 20 miles)
5) Now, each time it comes on, I repeat 3 above, and the light resets again.

Weird or what!!!!

Could it be related to valve cover pressure build up? Or am I missing something?

Has anyone else experienced this?

Havn't had an issue like this but a quick google search shows there are a few oil related lights. An oil can image with the word "sensor", or "low" or just the image it self. They all mean different things from the low oil sensor to a pressure sensor to actually low oil quantity or low pressure. You'll have to research which one you have and what it means and go from there.

Thx MacB767!
You are right in that there are several oil related lights.
Mine is definitely a yellow oil can with spout oil drip over the word "MIN".
The handbook says check the oil level at the first available opportunity.
The issue is definitely not the sensor or pressure light.

hmmmm interesting problem. Check oil light with full oil. Odd. Well I'd probably drop the oil. Pull the sensor check it, clean it, possibly replace it. I don't think it would have anything to do with pressure in the crank case or valve cover area. If you have access to a vag that may help. But probably just tell you you have low oil quantity. Not sure. Not that familiar with VAG Com.
