Re: Someone hit my car on my first day!!! Suggestions on repair??
For more info I found this explanation of no fault insurance using Google (http://www.kanetix.ca/what-is-no-fault-auto-insurance):
What no-fault means is if you are injured in an accident or your vehicle is damaged, then you deal with your own insurance company when making a claim, regardless of who is at-fault for causing the accident.
In provinces with no-fault insurance, insurance companies assign the percentage of fault for each of the drivers involved in the accident. If you are involved in an accident and it is determined that you are at-fault - either completely or partially - it will go on your insurance record and you'll likely have to pay a lot more for your coverage.

I didn't bring pics, but I mentioned that you had a hole probably 4 inches long from a liscense plate and that you probably had "spider webbing" on your bumper as well. He said he could fix it..for about $200, which really means about double the price when you're finished..HOWEVER, he doesn't have a paint booth or an oven..whatever work he did on my car had the paint run..close up it looks like dudu..the guy even suggested Maaco, which I rolled my eyes at..
So if you're still interested ..Downsview Auto Ltd. 1235 Sheppard Ave. West. (Across from Downsview Park.. Ask for Eran..(416) 562-4444

Re: Someone hit my car on my first day!!! Suggestions on repair??
i would say $450 to repair the damage.. its not a lot of damage. $1000 - $1300 on what these ppl claim are insanely high. I would agree it being that much if the shop decides to REPLACE the bumper rather than REPAIR it.
Put some bondo in there and repaint. Its easier for the shop that way, and easier on your pocket. There's this huge big yellow book called the yellowpages. It's great for finding businesses. Good luck.

I got a quote today from this body shop recommended by some family and it will cost me around $275 to get it fixed, not bad at all..... Damage not big enough to replace the whole bumper, I will post pictures after its fixed up next week.

Hi,
I have the same kind of dent in my bumper - but it was my own stupid/maddening fault (did not see the low concrete block in a parking lot....live & learn I guess). Anyway, I got two quotes from reputable & recommended shops that hovered between $700 - $900 to fix the dent and then repaint the whole bumper - not replace it. Is that too high?
One of the guys said that I could also walk into any smaller bodywork shops around Ottawa/Gatineau and get the job done at a much lower price. But I am wondering if this would be a smart thing to do - is this a job that can be botched up easily?
Many thanks for any advice.
