Ps
You did not wreck the car because the oil took care of the cooling.
Please change the oil as well.

I didn't read anywhere that stop leak was added or that there is a leak?

Neither did I Mike. Adam, you have no evidence that his car has stop leak in it or that he has any serious problems. To the OP: Probably not a bad idea to replace the belts and the water pump and the thermostat.

It could very well be a weak pump or a faulty t-stat, there's no saying that the most recent thermostat was OEM equipment like I said earlier in this thread and it may open and close at different temperatures. 110 is indeed on the high side though.

OK, so I have completely flushed the radiator and coolant system according to instructions I found on this forum. The coolant was orange. I'll assume that is NOT the right color for G12 as the new stuff I bought is purple. The water was running 100% clear after flushing the system.

50/50 mix of g12 into the system. No leaks. (never had any leaks either) Car is up to regular temp and then up up up it goes.

At idle in the driveway with the hood up and a fairly cool day it sits at 95 to 97 according to the scan gauge. A slow drive around the block and it fires up to almost 110!!!

Both rad fans are verified to be working.

That is worse than before! I am getting heat through the heater. The coolant isn't boiling over and not much if any coolant is coming through the overflow return line to the reservoir at that high temp. I loosened the tank cap and it had barely any pressure. In my experience there has always been some pretty good pressure when the system is that hot???

I am very confused.

It seems like the t-stat is malfunctioning?

Is it possible for the temp sensor to be wrong?

I'd rather change an easy to get to sensor than the t-stat. Any bench tests or voltage tests for the sensor? I throw no codes at all.

Is there an easy way to test if the water pump is working correctly?

I feel so pissed right now!
