^^^^^ well done! Lol

OP, timing belt, not chain in these cars. 02 is the first model year of this generation, and as such, should be expected to have a few more bugs than later years.
As with all Audi's, there are issues, but if you are handy with a wrench, many can be DIY projects, and forums can help.
Good luck!

to be honest... audi's are that great in reliability.... the powertrain parts seems to be fairly reliable, it's the electrical (sensors) that become faulty all the time. most of them are usually cheap fixes but some in my case... were pretty damn expensive.

As with any Turbo - Turbo is a problem.

If you forgot to change your oil one single time you are screwed.
Take care of the oil every single time and you are the boss!

the turbo's don't cause a problem if you take care of your maintenance and warming up/cooling down.... it's the electrical IMO.

well these turbos arent the same as the typical ball bearing, so you dont really NEED to cool it down... but its a good idea... the main problem with these are the cats... i can't tell you to remove yours but if you don't have a cat the turbo doesn't get damaged.... the main issues with 1.8t's is the slug issue... so make sure the oil used is good full syn, at least 91 octane fuel... best way to check this is either listen to the engine... there is a tensinor that runs the cam gear chain... if that's rattling its a 1100$ part and can be done when doing timing belt... mine has done me well i had a 96 2.8 and it was good only issue was heat, and battery dying overnight cause of the BCM... but my 03 i love it so far... re-mapped the chip and a few mods... fuel mileage for a 4 banger is upsetting but the mods caused that...

any questions pm me
