Default quick question

what is the ratio or percentage of rear wheels to front to make up the quattro system. is it 60 percent rear and 40 percent in the front?

Depends on the model, the R8 is rear-biased however most other models were/are 50/50 in normal daily driving but then can push power around based on driving conditions and driver inputs.

Yeah I also agree with 50/50! I used to think it was 60 40 too but after further research found out from a buddy thats a mechanic at audi that its 50/50 and now whoace also a mechanic confirmed it

It seems to depend on the vehicle...

Some reference from Stasis - The standard torsen center differential in the B5 S4 and B5 A4 provides a 2:1 torque distribution capability. This enables the end of the car with traction (generally the rear) to deliver twice the torque being delivered by the least tractive end of the vehicle (generally the front). For high performance street cars, Stasis recommends a bias ratio of 4:1. This is the same bias ratio that Audi has provided in the stock B5 RS4 driveline.

Yes there was a B5 RS4 but I'm not sure if it was available in Canada. Most quattro systems are 50/50 split but the torsen diff can allocate up to 80% torque to either axle.

I work at DM Service Center out by Frobisher/Davenport. Independent shop that pretty much fixes anything from Motorhomes, 18 Wheelers, and all passenger vehicles.

Today I was at the Timmie's on Davenport and a guy pulled in with a 360. I'm like "Nice car. 2002 360?". "No, 2004". Then some chick interrupted us and was like, "Is that the new Corvette?" LOL! So we continue our conversation and I tell him that we service Ferrari's at my shop. So he pops by and I give him a tour and made my boss a new customer. Review for me is coming up. Big raise!!!

OK i will chime in with my 2 cents. B5 RS4 was a eurospec vehicle only which indeed came with 80% rear 20% front. A common upgrade for some of those high powered b5 s4's was to pick up the RS4 torsen center diff. As for just about all other Audi's the distribution is 50/50. Always exceptions of course, I believe the C5 RS6 was 60 rear 40 front.
