Please help identify this part
This part on my 2002 1.8t is broken (circled in red), as in, half of it is cracked off. It doesn't seem to affect the car. But I don't know what the part is, so I can't do any research on it. Can someone please name this part?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Don't know but it looks like some form of check valve. I'd suggest you take your picture into the parts guys at one of the local dealers and ask them what it is. Their BOM's are pretty thorough and then you can decide if you want to pay the dealer price to replace, order on-line or get one from a wrecker.

On the right (passenger's) side close to the firewall. It's tucked beside the plastic air intake ducting near the air filter. Those other larger lines in the photo are a/c refrigerant lines I believe.

Re: Please help identify this part
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction guys. I think I've tracked it down. This is the non return valve for the evap canister purge regulator valve (N80). It goes between the evap canister and the intake line in front of the turbocharger. See #3 in the link. audiworld forums thread 2366579

I believe the part number is 058 905 291K.
I'm thinking that with this part broken: 1. You could pull unfiltered air into the engine and 2. you might end up with gas fumes from the evap canister in the engine bay.

Re: Please help identify this part
its a one way check valve for sure. There are a bunch in the engine bay. Just pull the number off another one and head to the dealer. There about $40.
