Pickup Lag for 2003 A4 1.8 T
Hello everyone,
As a proud owner of an Audi I am glad to register here. Now for my issue that iam facing with this 2003 A4 1.8T.
I recently purchased it from a dealer and it had 103500 kms on it. Its driving fine and all systems are working fine except now it lags whenever i pick up. I have to press the RPM over 2000 to get a pick up. The other time i was just in parking lot without speed and it cimpletely gave a back kick to the pickup. my warranty for this car is over and now I am concerned. Any suggestion and guidance will be really appreciated. If someone knows someone who fixes this in Edmonton and Calgary, please let me know I love my car and I wanna make sure she rides good.

you need to get the rpm's to about 3000 for the car to start coming alive....keep it between 3 and 4 thousand rpm and you will be in a power band from the turbo that will keep a smile on your face.

That is not normal... I also have a B6 (chipped) and it is not supposed to do that at all!!!

I have heard good things about them, except for one comment which was negative: I have only talked to them and bought parts off of them, but I was impressed.

Funny, a similar situation occurred with my '03 Avant. The wastegate was not working properly. The clip that attaches the rod to the wastegate somehow fell off! Very unusual. I had a local expert look it over and found the problem. Once fixed it has worked well ever since. BTW - To get the turbo to work well with a kick you need to reach north of 2800RPM. It will kick in very nicely. Mine is chipped ( 1+) and exhaust - WOW! Have an expert have a look.

i think its a natural problem for all 1.8tq automatic. our engines with our oem stock ecu takes a hella long time to respond than a chipped ecu.
plus on a hot day like we got for the past few days.. the turbo is heat soaked no matter what and feels like a dead weight.
if you want a good kick all the time, i suggest you invest on a FMIC for your car so you won't feel the lag anymore.
