Default Inaccurate Gas Range!?

Hey guys,

I have a bit of a weird issue...My Gas range that tells me how many kilometers I have left before I run out of gas seems to be amazingly inaccurate.
When I fill up, it sometimes shows 580km, sometimes 600km and sometimes 650km...but when I drive for a little (maybe 10 mins or so), that 650km will drop down to 580, then go back up to 600... All in all, very inaccurate. I've also noticed that its always in multiples of 10km.
My Dad had a Lexus and his range is accurate to the Kilometer. When he fills up, its shows about 460km, and for every 1km he drives, the range drops by one km.

Is anyone else having these same issues??

Lemme know!

Yeah thats one thing I can say Audi should improve on. it is very innacurate as it readjusts itself to your driving and the current consumption level. It is a bad way to calculate it as it does not take an average usage. the 480 580 600 you get is to your driving style prior to fueling up try to do a throttle body check even though that that might not help the range it will help your driving and response times of the fuel range

1move is on the money.
when you step on the pedal hard.. it decides to re-adjust itself to your current consumption.
furthermore, when you arent flying down the street like a bat out of hell... it doenst like to readjust...
itz finicky.. but with a 1.8 you take an avg of 480-500 km per tank,
and with a 3.0+ you can take about 460-520 per tank.

last week, i drove all highway for about 580 kms w/o the gas light goin off... meaning i could have done about 600+ with one fillup...
this week im at about 390 and only have about a 1/4 tank left...

hope this helps.

3 things amaze me about this picture:

1. It says you should get 980kms, but then your CEL is on!
2. Your Airbag light isn't on... like, OMG! I'm so used to seeing these with the airbag lights on, haha
3. Your red LED display is working and not faded.. crystal clear! ... that seems to be a rarity among our cars too, hehe

You can increase the Intensity of the LED's by holding down the + button or using the - to fade it back

Oh, it's not a brightness thing... I think it's an electrical thing. I'll take a pic of it and show you what I mean, it's kinda tough to describe.

The on board computer uses the last 10-15 seconds of driving "behavior", assumes you will consistently drive that way for the duration of your tank, and bases it's calculation on that.

There's definitely some lag inbetween the adjustments.

This is mostly only a problem with B5's. The flex ribbon on the back is really cheap.
