Depends on your budget, I havent owned a 1.8t but only the 2.7tt. There are a few options for chip tuning, Pfaff offers a GIAC tune and Unitronic has an agressive tune as well, both for around $600. Just means doing some research on what you want out of your car. Check out JFonz tuning as well, fairly new in the market but offers big gains for significantly cheaper. Without going stage 3 (bigger turbo) you can gain significant power by Chip tuning, aftermarket diverter valve, larger or catless downpipe and exhaust, and of course a cold air intake. Good luck!

Congrats!
The 1.8 is one of the best engines in the world and can be tuned very effectively
Having said that, make sure you ge t a detailed report on what has been done to the car in terms of maintenance
Again you can spend $500 or 15k sky is the limit...
I would recommend a basic tune like APR stage 1 which is in my opinion the best value to begin with, it all depends what you want and how much you are willing to spend

Keep in mind that maintenance will add up and unexpected things will happen and the more aggressive in performance you go the more chances you are running since you are putting additional pressure on your car...finally regarding a cold air intake especially for the 1.8 is a TOTAL waist of money.
Our 1.8 have been designed from the factory with the best possible set-up, like the carbonio just looks good...do you homework and research research research
Welcome once again!

Besides chipping your car with a canned tune from GIAC, UNI or APR, all good choices , A HFC or test pipe would be your next best bang for your buck mod. you will need to replace your diverter valve when purchasing the Chip tune and when going with a HFC or testpipe you will need a higher staged tune, for APR i think its stage 2 not sure about the other companies since im chipped with APR.

Best of luck! its a money pit to Mod but its so addicting.. lol

Without changing the turbo you could go for a Stage II from Unitronic, you would need 225CC injectors (From an MK1 TT).

Changing the exhaust, diverter valve and air intake would help alot.

I have an 02 with the 1.8 and I'm going with the APR 1 or 1+ and exaust, my mechanic Chris at Das Auto in Red Deer bleeds Audi and thats what he recommended for about 40-50 hp for $2000 or so. Just a rough idea but pretty good starting point, I'm pretty clueless but hope it helps.

interesting, thanks for that. Back in the UK i had a Skoda vRS (also a 1.8t) that was pushing 320bhp through a manual gearbag with just an uprated clutch, this is the first auto I've owned!
