Hood Latch sensor

I got in my car last week and the dash said my hood was open. I got out and and checked to make sure it was latched which it was. Has anyone had a problem with the sensor being faulty? If so where is it located and is it easy to fix it or replace?

The bigger issue is now my alarm goes off randomly throughout the day and night becuase the alarm system thinks the hood is open when it is actually not.

thank you,

A4 1.8T

I had the same annoying problem. Alarm driving the neighbours crazy. After reading all the forums about cutting wires, replacing and expensive fixes. I got simple stupid. A good soaking with WD40 did the trick. Apparently the sensor can get gummy
