Hit a Deer! - Fifth Day With the A4.
Freakn' thing came out of nowhere tonight. Cruising along at around 95KPM in the pitch black. I swerved just enough to keep it from going over the hood, but it took off my driver's mirror, crumpled my front qurter panel some, dented up my front door and its antlers cracked my windshield.
I got the cops to come out to file a report just in case the repairs are too much for me and I have to use my insurance.
Anybody have any idea what this one's going to cost me?

depending on what ends up getting replaced, could be between 2-10k...
I believe with insurance companies and deer, you have to say it jumped in front, and the claim goes under comprehensive...makes it less likely for a hike next year and looks better on your record....otherwise they will put it under a collision claim which makes you look bad and your rates will go up...
really sucks man! I have swerved around a deer once before I know the feeling - minus the part about hitting it - gotta suck
the estimate I gave is based on something that happened to me with my b7 a4...
my girlfriends neighbour backed into my front drivers corner while my car was parked. Long story short, I got a new fender, headlight, foglight, headlight washer nozzle, paint and the bill was about 7k (insurance 7k, reality about 8500) because they max out to a shop how much they will pay and the shops have to deal with it. Your damage sounds worse, but if any dents can be pulled out, it will save an arm or a leg

"Jumped out in front of me" That's the way it happened. I just have to remember the words. I hope it isn't up around the 10k range. I just paid 10k for it a week ago. That's "right off" territory!
UPDATE: The insurance guy says that they don't consider deer collisions "accidents" and they can probably put it under my comprehensive. So far so good.

Wow, sorry to hear that. We were driving down to Montana last Friday, and we almost hit a deer too! I think the deer was already injured as he was rolling over like a dog.

I got the car back yesterday...finally. Total was $3600. New mirror, windshield, fender and side window. Not as bad as I thought I guess. My eyes are freekin' WIDE and night now though!
