Default Fuel Gage Malfunction

Hi,
Anyone had a malfunction fuel gage/Symbol....
Fuel symbol came on when; I was low on fuel which is good... Filled up and the gage did not move still on an 1/8 of a tank; Driving after the tank is full and the needle goes down ... Thought I paid $60.cnd for nothing... went back to another gas station and check to see if the tank was really full... It was... Have anyone come across this before?... (2002 - 1.8T Audi Quattro Avant)

Checked the fuses and all is well... help.....

Default Fuel Sender Issue

This is a known problem. The brand of gas has an effect on the card used in the sender, there was a recall for this a few years ago. Check with the dealer to see if you're covered, if not try using Sunoco and Shell only, not Esso and never Petro Canada. It may start working again, maybe even add injector cleaner a couple of times. That's what I remember about the problem, anyone correct me if you have better data.

Default Fuel Gage malfunction

Hi,
For thoughs who ever come across this situation and thoughs who are just curious... My car is still running on "empty". The most efficient car, I have ever owned... I will be taking it to the dealers on Wednesday and I'm hoping not to get dinged on the repair. I am prepared for the worst. Whatever the results, I will post.

Default Fuel Gage malfunction

I did not believe this at first but the brand of gas does have an effect on the card used in the fuel sender unit....

I filled up with Chevron 94 oct and that is when the problem occurred.. Travel for about 400km on the Chevron gas and then filled up using ESSO 91... Gage was back to normal... Still cannot believe it. Saved me some money; thanks very much for the help......

Will have to take my car in and ask about the recall and if I'm covered..

Thanks
Once again for the help...
