Fifth gear high RPM's
My check engine light has been on for a bit, but I was just ignoring it. Today, I realized this whole time in fifth gear going 100km/h I am sitting at 3.1k RPM. Is this right? Is that how high they rev in fifth for 100kmh?

Why would you ignore the check engine light in the first place? If I were you, I'll get someone with a VAG-COM and check if you are getting any error codes. I would gladly do it for you but unfortunately I don't have a VAG-COM.
And I have a six speed 1.8T and I usually cruise at about 1.9k RPM at 100km/h on sixth.

yeah i rev around there as well. i'm pretty sure that's normal... probably why they added a sixth gear in later models...

ya bud i have a 2.8 and im around there as well. but one thing the check engine light is on your dash for a reason when it comes on do something about it. sorry to be rude but it's just dumb to just let it ride man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
