Few DTC codes, 6 questions !
Hi there, I have a some questions about few DTC codes
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Address 01: Engine
Controller: 8E0 909 518 F
Component: 1.8L R4/5VT G 0001
Coding: 0016751
Shop #: WSC 63351
3 Faults Found:
16804 - Catalyst System: Bank 1: Efficiency Below Threshold
P0420 - 002 - Lower Limit Exceeded - Intermittent
17887 - 17887 - Brake Boost Vacuum System: Mechanical Failure
P1479-008-Implausible Signal- Intermitten
I would check out the vaccuum lines near the brake booster or for other obvious issues you may see there.
18057 - Powertrain Data Bus: Missing Message from ABS Controller
P1649 - 008 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent
Readiness: 0000 0000
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Address 02: Auto Trans
Controller: 8E0 927 156 P
Component: AG5 01V 1.8l5VT USA 1213
Coding: 0001002
Shop #: WSC 94789
No fault code found.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Address 03: ABS Brakes
Controller: 8E0 614 517 A
Component: ABS/ESP allrad 1726
Coding: 04277
Shop #: WSC 54321
2 Faults Found:
01119 - Gear Recognition Signal
35-10 - - - Intermittent
01826-Sensor for steering Angle Sensor (G85):Supply Voltage Terminal 30
35-10 - Please Register/Activate - Intermittent
Question #1 : 16804 - Do I change the cat or one of the sensors, and which?
Question #2 : 17887 - I've read in a forum that someone with a bentley said that « The only motor that has a 17887 code is the AWM engine (2000 1.8T). » Does this mean that the motor has been replaced in my car?
Question #3 : Is it normal that the scan only covers Adresses 01-02-03?
Since I've no mechanical knowledge, and that I found some information on each code
16804/P0420/001056 - Ross-Tech Wiki
17887/P1479/005241 - Ross-Tech Wiki
18057/P1649/005705 - Ross-Tech Wiki
01119 - Ross-Tech Wiki
01826 - Ross-Tech Wiki
Audi A4 (8E) Steering Wheel - Ross-Tech Wiki
Question #4 : Should I bring these pages to a mechanics and tell him to repair those?
Question #5 : Also, I've replaces last week my front brakes (pads & discs) and I discovered that the old sensors were totally anihilated. So maybe just clear DTC codes would solve all the ABS problems.
Question #6 : I have a 3rd party cable, yep I did not know they were unsuccessful with newer vag-com, so it only works with vag-com 4.09, which is free and limited in its functionnality. So I cannot clear DTC codes. Is there other softwares that can clear DTC codes, and read all of them?
Vag-com would just display the #1st one, and I have to do some research to find the description of the others.
As you can see, I'm starting playing around with my car, but I just don't know how to yet.
