Default Exhaust System.. (Silent but Deadly) (1.8T Audi – stage 2)

Is it possible too silent down a Magna Flow system (2.5” pipes with the resonators etc..with no cat, just down pipes)? I was told that if I get a “High flow Cat” it could but not much… Love the power but really don't want others too know what kinda power is under the hood..

Any advise besides changing back to the factor system?

Thanks

Default no cat

Hi there.

I was considering the removal of the cat also. Is it really loud? I have a neuspeed exhaust system, and I find it loud enough.
Some say that the sound of the stock exhaust with a test pipe is perfect. A bummer when you just bought a new exhaust system...!
keep me advised.

Default Exhaust

Yes, unfortunately I spent money on this system. I took a car out with the neuspeed exhaust system stage 1+ (Apr – I could be wrong); uses a different software package setup than mine. (Mine REVO). The exhaust system did droning as much as mine. I am looking into using a product called “B-Quiet Ultimate and V-Comp” It is a sound dampening material/cloth/foam. Read lots about it and I’m hoping it will work. I have 2 types of personality now while driving…

Not sure about B-Quiet, ive heard mixed reviews and that it is nothing more than Home Depot deadener and that is only going to quiet things up in the cabin anyways.

Straight through resonator should help, or a 3 chamber muffler, but you may lose some power

I dont know about removing the cat. On my first audi i did and i got pulled over and got a huge ticket. I was younger then and didnt have much cash, my folks almost killed me (their car, they didnt know about the cat).

Things are different now. for the sake of a few horsepower, i rather have a cat and a nice sounding exhaust

By the way, How do you manage the check engine light? Does Revo software have a way around it or do you just live with it?

Default Exhaust System

Once I decided to go to stage 2 the factory CAT was used and it read two different temperatures before and after the CAT... triggering the engine light to come on... A bit of a perfectionist (My Tuners) they did not want that, I could not live with it either. They were in touch with Revo techs to find out why and they finally found that the factory CAT was restricting the flow of exhaust therefore they pulled it out, a high flow CAT can be used as well. During all this the Canadian tuners learnt that there are two different set ups. 1) California and North America.. (What I was told) My car was a testing grounds for the tuners it seems. Took a while to get it back...

As for the noise it is not that loud.. it's the dam droning at 3000rpm. .

your owner's manual should tell you how to turn the engine light off.
my 2000 A4 manual sure does.
but i suggest u look into the problem first though.....

good luck

Yup, no CEL's with REVO for this. APR also manages this with their K04 and BT software.
