The ESP warning light will go away after you drive and turn the wheel a couple of times....it has to reset.....it won't reset just by idling, you have to move the car. Still no idea as to what your sound might be??

I will try to drive it today. I still have no idea what that sparking sound is. One thing that I noticed last night from a video on Youtube is the coils need to be pushed deep enough until they click in. However, I never heard that clicking sound while securing the coils. Could it be because I didnt press them hard enough?

You may not have them down far enough.....they sit tight against the valve cover. You will feel when they bottom out.

THanks Gerry,

Today I went to see a mechanic. He told me that my car was fine. The sound was actually from the ABS panel. That sparking sound was from the ABS computer checking the system when the ignition is switched on. Do you experience the same thing?

After disconnecting the baterry for a few minutes, I took the car for a drive. Everything seemed fine. The check engine light didn't come on anymore. The only thing that I noticed was the digital indicator showing fuel consumption keeps fluctuating dramatically. I used to see 15L/100km, but now it seems to fluctuate a lot below or above that. At once it showed 2L/100km, and suddenly it showed 22L/100km.

Do you think there is something wrong with the trip computer?

The trip meter is showing actual consumption....you know that it has a few other functions as well, don't you? The button on the end of your wiper control,
controls that. I don't hear well so the only thing I hear in the cabin is the climate control going through its functions or on occassion, the CD player, loading different CD's. Not saying mine doesn't make the noises yours is....I just don't hear that. I think you have a fully funtioning A4 again!

Thanks for your advise Gerry. My car is running fine now. The light never came on after I unplugged the battery. I also brought my car to a mechanic. He said that the clicking sound comes from the ABS console which is normal when the ignition is switched on. It is hard to notice the sound from inside the car. I noticed the sound when the hood is opened, and I had to stand near the engine.

I have been driving the car for a few days now, and it seems okay. Also the fuel consumption indicator is now back to normal.

Good and you are welcome! The computer has to reset things and sometimes that takes more than a couple of minutes or startups, so be patient for a while anyway. This forum has saved me lots of money as most problems have been experienced by others and the info sharing is great!
