Re: Engine Light Still on and Car Shaking after replacing all 4 c
I have the same issue with my B6, but when I pulled one plug I do see a little oil on it...
- So I replace all plugs and same issue... and pull it again it has a little oil on it...
- Is it the oil causing it? I think i need to change my head gasket any DIY guide on that one?
- I have a OBD2 reader i can that detect vacuum leak?

Re: Engine Light Still on and Car Shaking after replacing all 4 c
FINALLY!!!! After 2 months, 2 service places, 6 visits, and 5 rental cars....they finally figured out what is wrong with the car! I just received the call today from the Audi dealership's service that they found metal debris in the car intake. Luckily, it didn't get into the engine. I am just hoping that this indeed does fix the problem.
Thank you for all the help!

Let us know after you pick up the car how it is. How badly blocked was intake (air)? and exactly where was debris found? Source of metal? Sounds odd to have metal debris in air intake downstream of filter.

They will be working on the car today, and then will drive it 50-100 miles (yes, the problem is that sporadic). I am guessing I will get the car back on Friday then. These are all very good questions that I will ask when I pick up the car. Also, he took pics of the debris inside the intake that he will be showing me. He did ask if the car was ever in an accident. I bought the car used, and was not told of any accident.

Re: Engine Light Still on and Car Shaking after replacing all 4 c
I work on engines that are prone to getting oil in the sparkplug chamber and it never causes issue with engine operation. Cross that off the list as a probable cause. Metal debris in the intake is also highly unlikely to affect engine operation in that way. The resolve will be in the fuel or spark facets of the engine operation. Vacuum leaks are a definite possibility. Has the fuel filter been replaced at all? What about fuel quality? Do you use ethanol in Florida? Has the fuel system had a cleaner run through it? You can purchase and install the cleaner in the fuel tank yourself from most auto supply stores/dealers/repair shops/Wallmart etc. Not sure where the fuel filter is located on that vehicle but I am certain that there are many readers who do know.

I picked up the car after spending ~$800 dollars (see earlier posts on what I had the audi dealer fix) just to have the car shake and engine light blink the next day!
I took the car back (engine light was NOT on), and 4 days later they wanted me to pick up the car because they couldnt find anything wrong with it! They did a scan and only found the one random/sporadic misfire code. They then did another quick computer diagnostic test that showed the car was fine, and drove it 30 miles hoping to duplicate the problem. As you can guess, I was furious that they even thought it would be acceptable to have me drive away without the car being fixed. I then went to the manager with my complaints and he decided that they will take care of whatever they find wrong with it until the problem is fixed at no cost to me.
*Note: From the beginning, I knew that oil leaking from the gaskets onto the spark plugs would not fix the problem (thanks to you guys, car friends back home, some research, and previous mechanic), BUT they claimed that they need to fix the 'obvious problems.' I made it very clear to them that I knew it would not fix the problem and that I expect my money back if thats the case bc I am not hear to pay for their trial and error....thats how I was able to make a deal with the manager.
So what exactly will they be doing to clean/remove the metal debris they found in the intake? I always think of questions after I am down talking to them.

Re: Engine Light Still on and Car Shaking after replacing all 4 c
I can see the point of repairing a leak regardless of probability of contribution.
I suspect that they will blow or vacuum the debris from the plenum. The air travels from the intake air filter through the turbo and aftercooler if it has one and then to the throttle body butterfly valve and enters the engine throught the intake valves while the piston is travelling down. The piston travels up and the fuel is injected into the cylinder though that piston travel at some point. Ignition happens at the desired time as determined by the computer and the piston is forced back down.
Debris in the air stream would not effect the compbustion process. It may cause the throttle body to stick or score the piston liner but combustion would not be effected likely.
Fuel system cleaner is installed in the fuel tank as a point of entry but is designed to clense the fuel injectors as it passes through them. It is not there to clean the tank neccessarily although it probably does in passing.
Hope this helps.

Re: Engine Light Still on and Car Shaking after replacing all 4 c
I'm having a hard time finding vacuum leaks... i check all hose... no crack or sign of leak...
- I took off the air filter, clean it and it worked for a week and back again ;(
It a very small issue but it really annoying ... I'm thinking of trading this car due to that
