Engine Light Still on and Car Shaking after replacing all 4 coils
Background: 2005 Audi A4 Quattro 1.8T 64,000 miles. Bought the car used ~3yrs ago from dealership. No problems until now. No warranty.
While accelerating the car begins to really shake and engine light flashes. After turning off the car, waiting, and restarting the car the shaking has stopped, but engine light is still on. I took the car in and they said 2 coils were bad (not sure of codes or which coils). They installed 4 new coils. Next day the symptoms come back. Took the car back in and they said the computer is reading that 3 coils are bad: 1,3, and 4 (unsure of codes). They replaced with 4 brand new coils. Next day symptoms return.
I will be taking the car back in tomorrow, Monday. Any ideas what it could be? Catalytic Converter? Evap Purge Valve? Faulty Computerized Sensor? Damaged cylinder? Bad spark wiring?
Any help will be appreciated. Thank you!

The car is getting serviced at a German Car Care Place. So its not a dealership, just a service garage that specializes in German cars. They are usually pretty busy.

Your car had a recall for the coilpacks. Check at the dealership with your VIN if the recall was performed on your car. Warranty or not, it's a recall and will be covered.

Just a quick pointer, your car is a B6, and this is the B5 forum.
That said, get the codes read and posted, then we can help better. Perhaps you even have a vacuum leak.

Looks like I was mistaken, but my car is a B6. I didnt think there was a recall on 2005s? If so, do you have a link on the details of this?

Regarding the codes, I will ask for those.
I did go ahead and take the car in on Monday, and he said that he still sees nothing wrong with the car except for the fact that the coils are bad (not sure which ones this time but again these are the second brand new ones in my car that are showing to be bad). The guy actually removed my coils and put them in his car and said that they work fine in his.
Next thing he said he is going to put new spark plug wires in my car and try that. I hope that works! He also said that the computer "appears" to be working fine, but he isnt positive and wants to try new spark plug wires first.
So.....since my coils arent actually bad..then what is the problem? What else can make the coils appear bad? If you cant already tell, I am just now learning about cars.

Well at least they are testing the parts instead of just replacing them... sometimes these things can expensive if you are doing the "trail and error" route to testing.

I would take it to the dealer, i would call Audi of canada with the VIN # and verify that there is a recall and let them figure it out, I am sure it is related. Could it be a bad spark plug? Its a guessing game without any DTC's posted, try to find out what the DTC's are and post em on up so we can have a better idea

Thank you all for the above posts!
UPDATE: Picked up car today from independent car place, before I left the light came back on! This is after new coils and spark plug wires. The mechanic gave me a 100% refund and told me to take it to the dealer bc he thinks it may be the computer.
Codes from the first mechanic: PO300, PO301, PO302, P0303, and P0304. The last 4 codes never came up all in the same visit, usually 2 or 3 of the last four codes (reminder I have been to the shop a few times for the same issue).
I just dropped it off at the dealer and got them up to speed. Unfortunately, they said they will have to do a diagnostic check from the beginning for $153. I will post any codes they give me.
Also, I was told that last year a dealership replaced the coils under recall.
Let me know if you have any input or suggestions. I am getting really worried about the problem being the computer. I have heard that it is very, very expensive to replace.
