The red stuff only!
I have seen it happen too. I find some of the older generation who own newer cars still think anti-freeze is anti-freeze, like back in the day. Unfortunately, not anymore.

From what I have learned, if you have to remove the TB to fix/install the water pump, may as well replace the TB while it is apart, or it will cost double if you have to do two services.

Thats what I said in the other thread is it not? the timing belt cover doesn't have a gasket. If you are going to do the water pump then you should do the timing belt too seeing as you are over 100k anyways. This will cut down your labour costs in the long run. Unfortunately I'm out here in kelowna or I'd say let's do it over a weekend. You should start up your own thread and do a shout out to the vancouver guys on here. See if there are any good indie shops in Vancouver or if there is someone who can help.

Hey, never do service at a dealer unless its free. Dealers make too much money on service. Reason being is that
1. its too expensive compare to private shops
2. They work with the same cars all the times so they actually do work quicker then what they charge. eg doing a brake job or them they would take about 3 hours labour, while they could easily do it in an hour or so.

G12 - the red stuff - never mix green - EVER.

German cars don't like the Green stuff.

G12

Red

Got it?

Cool.

Timing belt job for a 1.8T should be in the ~$800ish range including water pump. Be sure to have a well known/respected Audi Specialist do it in your area.

Best price doesn't always mean best work. They need to know these cars, or else you'll end up with a hacked-up Audi. Seen too many of those...

Cheers
