Electrical problem in driver's door - Very specific!

Re: Electrical problem in driver's door - Very specific!
Hey there,
I effectively corrected the problem. Unfortunately, I don't think you will be able to do it yourself... I've had to make the wires changed all of them in the door latch, because some oxydation had damaged wires. That explains why some controls worked (ie. other windowsbut not driver's one).
To verify this, if you have a VAGCOM you can read an error code generated by this situation
- intermittent door lock control signal
- intermittent driver window signal
- and even intermittent driver speaker signal.
Since I had not the knowledge and the skills to do it, I've the wires replaced for about 4 hours of labor in an audi spacialized garage...
Hope this helps!
RiCK!

Sounds good Rick! It sounded like there was more than one problem. Many indicators suggested poor electrical connections or broken wires or that the door latch had failed.
If the window is not working then above applies but for others it could also suggests a problem with the driver door control module that also includes the window regulator motor - this is a bit of an expensive piece so recommend thorough troubleshooting before replacing expensive parts.

Re: Electrical problem in driver's door - Very specific!
I had a similar problem with mine this past summer. I noticed the red door light woudl flicker on and off depending on the position of the door, when it was opened and closed.
Tried changing the bulb, still not working. then I noticed that the light would flicker when the wiring harness at the hinge was moved with my hand, then eventually it stopped working altogether.
At the same time, the door woudl not lock or unlock, however the other doors would.
After a bit of tight access invesitgatin in the door hinge area, and taking the drivers intrerior door panel off, I found there were actually two wires that had been broken from what I am guessing is repetitive bending, or it got pinched at one point.
I soldered the two connections together, and everythign has been fine since.

I guess one day that will not fix it and I will have to take off the interior door panel as well
Is this difficult?
