I bought the Can0BD2 which can be found on Can0bd2.com - code reader Resources and Information.

you just plug it in and it will work.

Anyone know anything about these tools? do they work?

i just realized that it will tell me the code, but i have to go online to find out what the code means. Also they charge extra for this.

I figured it would save me the cost of paying a mechanic each time to find the codes

love to hear any comments

Thanks
I bought it been using it for 3+ years and it helped save me lots of money and my friends and family. It tells you a generic code+description of the problem, BUT, I still checked against the Audi OBD codes and verified it was the right problem description, then you have to do research on how to fix the problem or exactly pin point what the actual problem is. But overall it's a good purchase and it will save you lots of money. Don't compare it to the one AUDI has it's totally different, it gives more detailed information tailored to the Audi you have, but for us it's better than nothing and you keep 50-100$$ in your pocked for diagnostics depending how much your shop charges.

Can anyone lets me know, if the OBD2 reader from Canadian tires can reset the airbag light. Also, last week I had a bad coilpack and the MIL light comes on. Today I took my car to the dealer for the coil pack recall. But they didnot reset the MIL light for me, and they want to charge me extra for the checking of the light. I refuse to have it done if I have to pay for it because of the faulty coil pack. On the recall letter it mentioned the dealer will check and reset the light???

I cannot tell you for sure that it wont, but most genereic readers do not. Usually a specific air bag scan tool is required

The oBD2 reader from Canadian tire won't reset your airbag, it will only reset the check engine light.
You will either need to go to the dealer or use VAG COM software, and then again if using VAG COM software you might need a dealers code to reset it.
