i dont know exactly what it is. the mechanic is telling me that its the peice that connects the tranny to the driveshaft. would this be the cv boot?

Could also be an alignment issue as well. I had the same thing so I brought mine in for a 4 wheel alignment and rotation/balancing at Big O and it cost me $130. A **** load better now!
Are you referring to the U Joint?

i dont think its an allignment because when the car was up on the hoist at the mechanics, he got someone to drive it while we looked underneath. at around 40km the shaft starts to shake were the hanging bearing is. the mechanic that did the clutch job is saying that the front plunger (thing that attaches tranny to shaft) is messed up causing a vibration in the shaft... also do you think i can jus get a shaft from a junk yard and put it in myself? or are there someking of special tools to do this

Re: crazy vibration at 40km/h
There is a CV joint at the rear of the transmission. It is inside wear the rear output flange is. This could be your culprit. Most driveshaft related work seems pretty simple if you have a lift. IF you have a lift though. Otherwise it would be kind of a PITA.

Re: crazy vibration at 40km/h
okay so you guys are saying that the vibration is coming fomr the rear cv joint the one at the tranny right. so the cv joint is causing the vibration at 40?

no wheel bearings are fine. im just trying to find out if its the cv inbetween the tranny and driveshaft. would this failing cause a vibraion near the hanging bearing.
