CPO woes....
Bought my car few months ago CPO'd from Mississauga, and was sold on the fact that I would be hassle free when it comes to warranty anything on the car, from burnt out dash lights, to worn out buttons, to stuck cd's etc etc. The car I purchased from them had 78,XXX KMS... which means in 2,XXX KMS i would be entering my extended warranty. I wasnt informed on their $50 deductable to honour their warranty, or that the warranty wouldnt cover squeaks and rattles and I would have to pay for something that failed from the moment I got into the car. Oh, also a few hours after purchasing and driving home, the intake hose was cracked and threw a CEL, that sent a very convienient message i would think on their 300+ inspection checkup.
There are a few things wrong with the car, but didnt say anything cause i wanted to keep friendly ties with the dealership, for e.g. Torn leather seat, chipped paint, slow sunroof, worn out window switches and squeaky rear seats, sunroof cover and glovebox. The squeaks annoyed me and drove me crazy and I finally got fed up and called in today to get it worked out/fixed, but was very happily greeted with a laugh on the phone when I told the service guy I thought it would be taken care of with the warranty.
I was very disturbed and annoyed that I was sold on the wrong impressions, that I would be very well taken care of if ANYTHING were to happen with the car.
Was my sales person, just that? A salesperson?
Is there any advice on how I can go about resolving this concern?
Thanks

Torn leather, worn out switch gear (common thing), squeeks, if I'm correct, that's all considered normal wear and tear and is not covered under any warranty what-so-ever. And yes the detuctable is $50 for each warranty claim.
As for the rattles, this is a common thing on all A4s. Clean all the rubber seals - around the sunroof and doors. I wiped them down with a damp rag and applied a small amount of motul grease which silenced everything.

I have 190,000km on my A4, it's a MY1999, and I don't have (nor can I remember) a single rattle... I had to apply some grease to my sunroof once about 40,000km ago, but it wasn't rattling or squealing, just moved a little slow. Guess I've been lucky?

Had one 2001.5 A4, not a single rattle inside. Had another 2001.5 A4 transported in from a Vancouver dealer, creaks everywhere. Wonder if the supplier for the rubber seals changes throughout or what not.....

Did you even read the extended warranty information before you purchase? It seems that you missed that information , basically sounds like saleperson just wanted to finish the deal, and say yes to everything u wanted.
$50 is standard on all extended warranties, unless he wrote on the contract paper that you are excluded from $50 deductable I had audi extended warranty and I couldn't fix number of things due to wear&tera clouse it tells you what is covered what is not, any kind of wear&tear is excluded from coverege. mostly what covers is mechanical & electronics parts
I would defently go back to dealer, talk to manager nicely and explain situation, and what bothers you.. hopefully you can resolve the situation. what they can fix , let them fix, the rest you will need to take care of yourself

I have also had a terrible experience purchasing a CPO car
In my case, a visual inspection of the vehicle resulted in my approval. However, I guess I should have checked to make sure the spark plugs were installed correctly as a broken plug cost me 3 weeks and an engine replacement under warranty.
The plugs were signed off as having been inspected (the service manager himself at Richmond Motors) told me over the phone they did not inspect them tho.
At the end of the day, I got a new motor under warranty, and had some of my costs for the 3 weeks I was without my car returned to me by Audi. It was a fight, but I came out ok in the end.
Lesson learned. A used car is a used car, no matter where you buy it. The warranty helps, but does not guarantee you'll come out with a peach of a car every time.
I will never do business with the crooks at Richmond Motors in Chatam Ontario again.

Been there... done that...
I had a few issues with my CPO car from Mississauga Audi too. It's probably not that anyone there was really out to screw you or anything. In my experience it was just that my salesperson wasn't trained as well as I guess he should have been.
I would suggest doing the following:
1) Make detailed notes of everything that your salesperson promised you. It's also a good idea to make some notes about all of the conversations you've had with the dealership since the sale.
2) Call AoA and make a formal compaint. I'd be especially concerned about the cracked intake hose. Check your paperwork to see if you have an actual copy of the 300 point inspection and the Carfax report. (At first they didn't give me either of those).
3) Follow the instructions of the people from AoA.
I did all of that and *many* of my problems were addressed pertty quickly.
It also doesn't hurt to post your comments about the dealership at http://1.8t.org
Good Luck

Good thread, thanks for the information. I am in the market for a used B6 A4 and you've all mentioned good things to look out for. It's too bad that Audi's CPO warranty is a tad weak for a supposedly luxury car. I'm also surprised at how little they care about putting a used car on the lot without proper inspection. I've hit a few dealers where there were obvious flaws in the car that made you question the previous owner's care of the car and Audi's 300 point inspection process (bubble in tire sidewall, broken interior panels hanging off, broken plastic clips in the seat pockets....)
Compare this to a Mercedes CPO car. My dad just recently purchased a used E class. They fixed every scratch, squeak and rattle before he took possession of the car. They even replaced a curb rashed wheel. The car looks virtually brand new inside and out. Then again, it may be safe to say that generally, E Class owners take better care of their cars than A4 owners (due to age and maturity of drivers that purchase these type of cars).

Re: CPO woes....
does anyone have a list of the items checked during the 300+ point inspection for the Canadian CPO's?
i have put on less than 2000 kms. on my 03 TT since purchasing it with the CPO and now i'm told by richmond audi i need a new timing belt. seems a little too convenient considering the timing belt inspection letter.
