FYI: I spoke to an older gentleman with a 1.8T B5 at the doc's office earlier today. He says that if you (can) drive your car to a Washington dearlership, that you could file a claim there for the settlement. Not sure if this is 100% accurate but he claims that he had done this by accident when he was in Seattle the last time.

He came into the dealership for some emergency car problem and the service advisor advised him of the lawsuit. He was then asked to leave his name, number, and most contact details then and there. A few days later, he got a mail from (not sure which one) Audi NA/Class action lawyers about the notice and that he was officially one of the settlement recipients! Just a heads-up folks!

If anyone out there frequents into the south border and would like to confirm this, please let us know. It would be beneficial to many (I think) and would be great for the Canadian Audi community. Thanks!

EDIT: I tried to get the old man's info but he refused to give it since he claims that he is bound by a contract (?) not to give out the details of his settlement! I did ask him to register with the forum and he claims that he is already a member. So if you're reading this, please chime in Gary!

I just finished talking to a service guy at the closest audi dealer. I was being passed around from phone to phone and when he went to check my bin number he hung up. Before that I was told that I would need proof of the last 5 oil changes and that I would need to pay 600 just so that they can check to see if its really a sludge build up. I told him the class action lawsuit only requires proof of last 2 oil changes and he responded with Audi requires more proof. He asked why I thought it was sludge build up and I told him I could show him my oil cap since it has sludge stuck on it. Is there someone else we can talk to about this instead of getting the cold sholder from everyone. Who has the number for the lawyers that are suppose to be on our side of the lawsuit.

Sent my oil sludge repair receipt in plus proof of previous two oil changes. Just received cheque for full repair amount of $2,470. Thanks Audi.

I hope that thanks to Audi was facetious! VAG really tried to shaft its customers on this one – they made some critical engineering errors, supplemented that with poor maintenance recommendations, then fought like hell to deny every claim they possibly could. I love VAG cars, but am absolutely disgusted by how they handle their service and warranty.

Hi,
i just got my cheque from Audi Canada for 1/2 of the cost of the repair for this. I wasn't entitled to the full 100% because, according to Audi, i couldn't provide the bills for the 2 previous oil changes prior to the Oil Sludge pump replacement. This was completely bogus, I had bought the car and the oil pump crapped out 1 month after. Who asks for oil change receipts when buying a second hand car?? Anyways got a cheque for $485. If you haven't heard from Audi about this reimbursement call 1-800-651-9219 & KEEP YOUR RECEIPTS.

I purchased a 2004 A4 1.8T in Feb-2011.
I never even knew about this suit and I think I have this problem now as today I got a horrible grinding type of noise but with no check engine light. If this is the issue , is it too late for me? I have had the oil changed once since purchasing the vehicle.

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has tried to get an oil sludge issue resolved that did not fill out and submit a claim form by the deadline. I have had no sludge issues with my Audi until recently and had always had Audi dealerships do my oil changes and maintenance with the exception of twice after the extended warranty expired. Bottom line, I now have sludge on a car with 73K miles and am living more than 200 miles from an Audi dealership.

Does anyone know if Audi of America has honored any claims on cars that are on the list of affected VIN's but who did not fill out a claim form to be included in the "settlement" - seems to me that settlement or no settlement, they should address this problem. Thanks so much! M

Is this only in regard to the 1.8t motor? I just purchased an 04 a4 3.0, should I be concerned?
