chip question

Re: chip question
go with the APR stage 1+ chip with Bosch fuel injectors. The power increase is quite noticable and still comfortable. the full ECMS option cost me $500 and I can run 4 programs (stock, 91, 94 octane and valet), added security features, throttle body alignment, etc. Full tank of Sunoco 94 gets me 450km highway mileage, 350 city. I got the upgrade done at AMI motorsports in Barrie, an hour north of toronto.

Yikes, that's all? How hard do you drive it? Might want to check your MAF, or O2 sensors?
I ride an '01 1.8T with the REVO chip (local dealer), and even driving reasonably hard from time to time, I manage 450-500 km city, 600+ highway, with Ultra94. Generally, average L/100km is 11, with mostly city driving.
Anywho, price for the REVO was $500, and I couldn't be happier. Make sure you replace the stock Diverter Valve (DV), as it will give out shortly after getting chipped due to the additional PSI through the turbo system.

I replaced my DV with a Turbosmart adjustable BOV/DV - you can adjust the amount that it vents to atmosphere so it doesn't throw codes or idle funny.

Re: chip question
When you guys say xxx kms per tank, what's your reference point:
- you fill it up, reset the counter and read it when
a) it reaches red
b) warning light come on?
I am measuring my consumption this way:
1. Fill it, reset the trip odometer
2. Drive until you want/need to refill it, fill it up, note the "liters of gas" you put in and trip odometer reading
3. Consumption = (liters of gas)/[(trip odo reading)/100] = xx.x lit/100 kms
- you fill it up, reset the counter and read it when
a) it reaches red
b) warning light come on?

Re: chip question
Just for my peace of mind: because I am going to chip (APR Stage I) my B6 next week I would like to make sure that I've done it properly. I called APR and spoke to Mr. Chris Gigon (Sales Rep) asking him what else should I do in order to mantain the same kind of reliability of the car. His answer was 'nothing, this is not going to harm in any way the engine'. He didn't say anything about replacing the DV. By posting this message I do not mean to argue with you, but to ask you kindly to be more specific in case you know some other details about the DV. Thank you in advance for your input.
