CALLING ALL 2002 A4 OWNERS. Re: premature rust on door
 

Hello everyone,

Just wondering how many 2002 A4 owners are experiencing a problem with rust and rust bubbles on the left and possibly the right front doors. This seems to be a chronic flaw in the manufacturing process.

Is anyone else having these problems? I heard that Audi extended the warranty on the paint job to 12 years so I'm wondering if and where this falls under warranty.

I have a little on the front passenger fender, but that's about it.

I would bring it in to the dealership to ask, or even ask Audi Canada. If it's a factory defect, it could have appeared earlier. Have you had any work done on the front doors? Window Regulator? Accident? Buffed out a scuff?

No just my own touch up to try and keep the rust from ing. Today I saw another Audi of the same year as mine with the rust in the same area... Lower left side of front driver door next to the lower fender so I'm starting to think that this is a problem with this year and model. This is why I want to see how many other 2002 A4 owners have the same issue.

Also, I'd like to arrange a mass trip to the dealership to discuss this with service to see if they would truly deny it seeing as how it's not just one car that has this issue.

Hmm odd, mines also like that, but i just figured the paint was damaged from the previous owner because the bumper is covered in rock chips and there a various scratch marks around on all the door panels... i guess we all cant have a used car with the paint unscathed :( lol.

Worth taking up with the dealer and /or Audi Canada but just remember the wording they always use with respect to corrosion - it's perforation from the inside, which usually means the factory paint must be be intact but there's a hole in the metal.

Likely tough for you to show that after 10 yrs or so of East Coast winters and all the salt etc that gets laid down.

yes I also have a similar problem. Also noticeed a little rust starting on the top of the car where the roof rack would go. I will go to audi soon and see what they say.

I guess for a 10 year old car having minimal rust is pretty good. I have seen cars 7 years old with much more. As long as the car does'nt break out now with rust everywhere I'll be happy. I'd like to keep the car another 5 years!!!

If it's worth any, I do have exactly the same problem. Little rust bubble on the driver door bottom front corner. I assumed that was some rework done by previous owner. It's been staying the same size for years so I left it alone.

Mine has some rust bubbles on the window frame, where the glass meets the door (by the B pillar, underneath the rubber). Both driver's and back passenger's doors. None at the bottom of the doors, though.

Any luck with Audi regarding repairs to rust bubbles? I have a similar problem on my S4 driver side fender which I discovered yesterday?

I just took my car to the dealer & put the claim in for the rust that I have.

I also noticed I had rust near the door blades but the guy took em off and said it was just the door blades that have started to rust not the body & that the door blades are not part of the corrosion warranty.

Audi wants 160$ each door blade!!!!
