Buying an 04 A4 need info

hey guys i'm new to the site and am going to be purchasing an audi soon an have some options and questions i would like to know prior to purchasing the car. all feed back will be greatly appretiated. im going with the 2004 model withe the quattro system. i have the option of the S- line or a regualar A4 with a 6 speed tranny i was wondering if there would be any real difference ride height? power output? interior stuff etc.

also i have a set on 19 rims that i was told will fit on the audi was wondering if i could use them or will they **** things up .?? i noticed they come with 17's and a reasonable tire thickness.

thanks for your time

All '04 manuals are 6-speeds. Unless you're in Europe, I don't believe S-line is generally the term used for B6 A4's. Instead they're called "Ultrasport". If the regular A4 does not have the sports package (look for 1BE in the car's options code), there would indeed be a ride height difference, as well as some other suspension-related differences (eg, different anti-roll bars, shocks, front "tower brace" that's hidden from view). There is no difference in power output between Ultrasport and regular A4's.

All A4's, from B5 onwards for the very least, have 5x112 bolt pattern. OEM wheels have offsets from 45 to around 43, while the least offset you can run is around 30. Widths larger than around 9" is generally not recommended. 19" is fine, so long as you run 235/35 tires.

Honestly though, you should take a look at both cars before you make any decision, and see for yourself which interior/exterior you prefer.

Re: Buying an 04 A4 need info

True ultrasport premium (USPs) A4s are a bit on the rare side and would be a good find assuming the price is right. It's an upgrade from the already nice "sport" model, though the USP specific things are purely aesthetic: interior trim, steering wheel, body kit, rims. If you can find a regular sport model for a good price, it's a worthwhile upgrade - the suspension is lower and a bit tighter than stock, and the wheels are nicer too (17" rims). Beware dealers that doll up regular A4s with the 17" rims and sell them as sport models. Real sports will have red shocks.
