I dont think I would want to chance it myself, maybe you can get afew estimates and see what price most would charge to fix it. If its anything like one I delt with awhile back, the paint is the most that you will be paying for.

Would a touch up pen really help to prevent rusting? It just seems to me that it wouldn't be significant enough cover for it to help stop rust, that you would need proper cover for that.

They have 2 piece touch up kits at Canadian Tire. If you can't get touch up paint matched from the dealer use that.

The theory is that you have to cover the exposed metal prior to it even beginning to rust. If it is contaminated by rust already then you're pretty screwed, you have to go to a pro to get it fixed properly.

You use the touch up pen to inject the paint into the area. Don't forget to shake it first! Secondly when the paint dries you take the second pen which is the clearcoat that seals it.

Should be fine as long as it has not started to rust before you applied the paint.

Thank you, this makes sense. It has been a long time since I have used a touch up pen of any kind (we are talking decades) and they were no where near that good, nor that complicated then. Seems things have improved some!
