So im driving home today, down shift into 4th all of a sudden theres a weird noise and i lose all boost at first i though i just blew a hose but when i got home and popped the hood i realized it was a much bigger problem than that, its an A4 with a k04-15 and i somehow managed to blow a hole rite through the hot end of the turbo, now im new to audi's I bought the car with the k04 already installed what im wondering is if its possible to weld (or will it warp) closed, can i buy the hot end seperately, or am i completely ****ed and have to buy a whole new k04 turbo plus install? So any ideas???......

I would replace it. From the picture, the turbine side of the turbo probably lost a blade, and that blade made the damage going out. If it would be only a hole, you should still have boost available.

ya its done. you need a new K04-15 which are imposible to find right now. You may want to go back to a K03 and have the car de-tuned if you are no looking for the performance you are getting now. All depends on what you need out of the car. If you want hte HP that you have now....i wish you best of luck getting a new K04....by the way, i would not recomend driving that right now either. only more damage can be done.

The housing can be welded, but the turbo will have to be dismantled, checked, re-built if needed and re-balanced. Pull the turbo and have a look at it.

I also think I saw aomeone parting out an accidented a4 on audiworld that had an aftermarket fmic and k04 set-up as well. Can`t remember when i saw it though.

Just rebuild yours and if you want to go bigger, see if you can find someone to make a hybrid out of it. K04-16 or something of the sort.

Wow, never seen that before

As mentioned, the shape of the hole and especially the fracture on the right side suggests debris was ejected from the inside at high speed.

When the Turbo comes apart, I'd be curious to see the Turbine and the remainder of the insides.
