Default Advice on Tires

So, my tires are finally starting to go. I need to purchase some new ones, and when my local mechanic told me that the model of tires my car currently has would be over $400 to replace (EACH!), I thought I'd weigh my options.
The tires I have currently are Pirelli P6 M&S Four Seasons - P235/45/17, 94V.
What do you guys recommend I put on 'er now, and where do you recommend I look? What prices are reasonable? Thanks a lot for any info!

If in T.O. area, hook up with allen@simplytire.com. Great service and pricing. Online sites such as www.1010tires.com and www.tiretrends.com are competitive up here and www.tirerack.com in the US are a few spots to consider (lots of comparative tire info and they can ship to your shop of choice).

Cheers !

in no way should those tires cost $400 - he probably quoted you full MSRP which only dealers try to gouge you out for.

ps - Pirelli P6 M&S are not the greatest tires either...

In my opinion Pirelli tires are overpriced crap. As suggested to to Tire Rack - Your performance experts for tires and wheels, they have a wealth of tire information and reviews that can help you decide what's best for you. Us

Pirelli P6 are not the greatest tires but u can buy from Tires23.com or Simplytire.com depends what u looking for:
1: Pirelli Pzero Nero AS all season tires for $1000-$1100
2. Continental DWS all season tires for $900-$1000

Thanks a lot for your suggestions, guys.
I checked out Tirerack.com and decided to go with the Conti DWS. I called a local tire shop and had them order them in for me (only took a few hours), and I had them put on today - $195/ea, including installation and balancing. Reviews seemed great, and so did the price.

I didn't notice any issues with the P6 tires, but I'm not too familiar with the signs of a good or bad tire. Those P6s came with my car, and this will be my first replacement. I'll see if I notice a nice difference with the new DWS tires. I think I missed snow season, though

STEVELEV's comments were stearing you in the right direction and it sounds like you made the right choice. I personally do not like all season tires and opt for summer and winter options. I did some research and my next set of summer tires will be either Michellin Pilot or replace the Conti's I have on now which by the way are really good tires. I currently am running in Pirelli winters mounted on OZ rims.

^^
Glad to hear Conti's are good tires. Having summer and winter tires would be awesome... I just can't afford it, lol.
