AC Charge up

AC Charge up
Hi guys,
I have never serviced my A/C since I've had this car. This year, my AC (although cold), is no where near as cold as it used to be. I have no leaks, but I understand that the A/C needs to be "charged" every now again. More freon or whatever, they run on.
Is this true, if so, where can I get this done and what should I expect to pay.

Re: AC Charge up
Last summer my ECON lite wouldn't go off therefore no a/c. Turns out refrigerant was low, local garage put a few ounces in and has worked fine ever since. It was $38, hope this helps, good luck.
Cheers Rich.

Waht???? i could have sworn thats illegal. You need to be certified to do that. If it spills, the gas eats away at the atmosphere for a about 400 years. Thats very strange that canadian tire wil do that....

Re: AC Charge up
Freon is what was illegal and damaged the atmosphere but most A/C units now run on r134a which is environmentally friendly.
