Having owned both a '00 Jetta TDI and '00 A4 1.8TQ, I can say that there is quite a difference in the way they drive. Yes, they are a different platform and fuel system... but I always found that the Jetta was very top heavy and the A4 was very stable at any speed. Yes the Quattro is the difference which is the point right!

Jetta is made in Mexico. Check VIN if it starts with 3 it is a Mexican Car.
The major difference between Jetta and AUDI is the amount of material that was used to produce the cars. Audi is 400 kg heavier. Everything is bigger and thicker on an AUDI. Jetta is made to meet minimum possible standards compared to AUDI. Audi is oversized in terms of material thickness. Bend down by the wheels and compare the shock absorbers!

Buying a car is a not a rational dissision, but a emotional one, that is why people buy a Audi instead of a VW. If you don't care, you buy american crap, lot cheaper and it has also 4 wheels........

Driving an AUDI is a statement
No difference in quality? Have you sat in the new Jetta? It's like sitting in a Nissan. There's a huge difference in quality. Previous generations not as much the 2011 Jetta. And beyond just the interior quality difference, quattro and engine mounting positions/styles, etc....each brand has a distinct identity. Every time I sit in an Acura or Lexus, I KNOW it's a Honda or Toyota. But between VW and Audi, there's something to appreciate about each make...even when the new Jetta is looking so close to the B8 A4.

I am emotional when it comes to Jetta. It carried my baby when she was born for 250,000 km safely. Cool in the summer and hot in the winter.

2.0 l engine. Big kick since the weight of it is 1150 kg.
Of course it does not compare to the A4 "ETALL" yet ....

Thanks for the hint about the PIZZA PLACE! How do you know about it?
I am getting it tomorrow.. and when it comes to Zywiec - ya bet ya-

PS

Thanks a lot for the home made fuel hint. You made me thinking and on the Saturday on my trip through the rockies I expect to have a blast.

SO MANY SUV's SO LITTLE TIME!

God, I ask for just one 911 on the way. All I want is one.

I have a B6 A4 and A B5.5 Passat 4motion.

They are virtually identical cars in almost every way. There only real advantage with the Audi IMO was that you could easily buy a 1.8T Quattro. They only offered the B5.5 4 motion with a 1.8T for a year or so.

That being said they did offer the B5.5 VW with a TDI -- which would have been nice if you could get it in AWD.

The jetta is totally different then the A4.

I have had a B5 A4, B5.5 Passat, and B6 A4... the B5.5 passat is actually the same as B5 A4, not B6. the front control arms are actually interchangeable on B5 audi and B5.5 passat, but not with the B6. the B6 also has a very different rear suspension, and a different throttle body, different engine codes, but these are all the same between B5 and B5.5, which were also made on the same platform (the B5.5 passat is on a stretched B5 A4 platform), but the B6 is a similar, but different platform. in any case, all very nice driving cars. unfortunately, my passat was FWD and tiptronic, which is why i no longer have it.

I'm not too familiar with the controls arm, although I've done them on both vehicles but as far as the drive train was it seems pretty much identical to me. But the passat has the 2.8L Audi V6 (not the VW VR6) where as my A4 has the VW 1.8T haha..
