Default A4 starts and stalls

Hi all,

My 2005 A4 has decided to not run. Was running fine, shut it off, went in to the grocery store, came back out, and it now starts, runs for 2 seconds and dies. Also noticed it says SAFE under the odometer. Any help is appreciated!

Sounds like an immobiliser issue; what is the state of the car battery? Sorry don't know how to do a reset though.

Check this thread:

I saw this message once when I tried to use a key that was originally for another A4. I was able to program the FOB, to unlock the doors, etc, but when i tried to start the car, it would do exactly what you mentioned.
Luckily in my case, my originnal keyfob worked fine, and I just bit the bullet and bought a new fob from the dealer.
