Hi there arimendiii. That's what I want to know. If the timing belt breaks on the 3.0 V6 in a 2005 A4, will it damage the engine? Obviously you want to know the same for the 1.8T. Someone on this forum should know the answer to that question. Thanks.

Yup, thats what we are saying. the engine wont run in the slightest and will more then likely stall out, but you wont damage the pistons and valves.

Well unless they use a different 1.8T engine in the VW's, it is definitely an interference engine. My boss snapped the timing belt on his '00 Passat 1.8T and that made a mess. wrecked most of the valves and all the pistons had light valve impressions on them although they were salvageable. I am pretty sure the 3.0 is an interference motor as well.

Did you by any chance ask about 1.8T's, are they the same as 3.0L???

Saw the Eagles here too... Joe Walsh is an awesome guitar player!

Audi 1.8T, 2.7T, 2.8, 3.0 and others are definitely interference engines so change the TB Kit when recommended or one is asking for very expensive engine repairs.

The 3.0 is one of the more difficult engines to change TB. Need ~$800 of specialty tools to do the job properly.
