Default 2004 A4 HID's

Well, I couldn't find one with the xenon lighting package... so I'm now shopping for an HID kit for my A4, can anyone make any recommendations?

I myself would go for a complete housing swap as opposed to getting a HID kit to retrofit into your existing housing, but that's just my preference. There's almost always some DOT headlight sets in one of the Audi forums on the net (AudiWorld, Audizine, etc) from when people replace theirs with e-codes, so that route would be the cheapest. Otherwise if you buy everything from new (say, from PG Performance in BC), you'd be paying a lot more.

Now im in he same boat here. Would it still not be cheaper to get just the HID kit for just over 100 then the entire light assembly with the xenons and then have to find the ignitor, balasts...and if the one you find is self leveling, would we not have to then install that in the drivers side wheel well?

Would it be cheaper to get an HID kit over a full set of headlights with ballasts? No question. But you'd have to look for a reputable maker for the kit, which I don't have any suggestion. I'm not aware of any kit that has auto-leveling: unless the kit is rigged with a level and has a motor integrated onto the projector, it simply cannot be done. (On OEM xenon cars the housings are equipped with motors for the leveling, with the sensor in the wheel well.)

so then if i wanted to go with xenons, is there a company that makes a kit that includes the headlights, bulbs, ballasts? right now i have the headlights that come stock but that just take an H7 bulb if im not mistaken. They are not xenonxs though.

My car came with xenons, and they're made by Valeo. The E-code housings I run are also made by Valeo. If you want to buy new, you can go to, eg, ECS Tuning, but it'd set you back ~$1500. I maintain the best bet is probably to check the various forums and see if anybody's upgraded.

If you are going to go the route of going OEM (by the way, I have a set of DOT single xenon headlight units I am not using which I haven't posted for sale yet) then check this post on Audizine for D1S bulbs (D1S bulbs PHILIPS new & fair priced - Audizine). I know that HIDconcepts.com sell the OEM Valeo ballast, but I think you can find them on ebay for less.
