2002 a4 high beams stay on w/key out and switch closed
I HAVE A 2002 A4 B6 AND IM BAFFLED ON WHY MY HIGH BEAMS COME ON AUTOMATICALLY AT NIGHT WITH THE KEY OUT AND SWITCH CLOSED DOORS LOCKED AND WHEN I TRY TO PLAY WITH THE SWITCH IT DOESNT WORK. ONLY TURNS OFF WHEN I UNPLUG THE BATTERY.!! PLEASE HELP THANX IN ADVANCE
I WAS THINKING IT COULD BE A SWITCH BUT IF SO WHY WOULD IT ALWAYS HAVE CONSTANT POWER EVEN WITH CAR COMPLETELY OFF AND KEY OUT.
COULD THIS BE A RELAY? IF SO WHERE IS THE HEADLIGHT RELAY?

The same thing happened to me. I can't remember many details but I did make some notes which may be useful. There were some relays visible when some of these parts were removed, but I can't remember their function.
Repaired headlight dimmer switch. Fault was due to slider on circuit board not making proper contact. Contacts appeared worn but cleaned with alcohol and reassembled. Worked, at least for now. Remove 2 #30 Torx for airbag. Disconnect only yellow connector (the other two stay with wheel). Note mark on wheel and steering column. Remove wheel with #12 double square socket. Remove 2 #8 screws and one lower allen screw on upper and lower covers and move out of way. Disconnect small yellow electrical connector and 3 clips on black plastic steering sensor (leave clear portion attatched) and remove. Disconnect very small electrical connector from key area, and also from attachment point on metal bracket and rear computer and put aside. Unscrew bottom allen bolt in metal bracket as far out as possible without it falling out. Remove 3 #8 torx screws from turn signal and cruise controller near steering shaft, and two near shaft on wiper controller. The three parts should come out.
